What does gaming DNS do?
DNS translates a service hostname into an IP address. A responsive resolver can make discovery and connection setup more reliable, but it does not automatically change the packet route after a session is established.
Will DNS always lower ping?
No. In-game latency depends mainly on distance, ISP routing, congestion, Wi-Fi quality, and the selected game server. DNS can still help when the original resolver is slow, unstable, or returns an unsuitable endpoint.
